All My Bags Are Packed, I'm Ready To Go...

Well, we leave tomorrow morning. Actually, make that this morning. As much as I planned, nothing will keep Sandy from packing at the last minute. She did have the clothes packed early, but it's all the little things.

Every cubic inch of our luggage is spoken for, I must say I am a master packer. I don't know many people who could fit a two-person, three-month trip into three suitcases, two garment bags, and two backpacks. Including, formal dresses for twenty or so nights. With room to squeeze in five books. While the packing had some major planning, as in splitting our clothes incase a bag gets lost, packing our carry-ons with items we refused to part with, and abiding by the airline restrictions of numbers of bags and weight of bags, its really the cleaning that will kill you. Last minute vacuuming, dishes, bathrooms, laundry, and trash duty started around 9pm-ish and is still going strong.

Juju left today to go have his own vacation with Amy. He usually doesn't like it when we leave him, but it worked perfect tonight. Amy picked him up, and he was obliviously happy because all he knew was that he was going on a ride. He doesn't look depressed now and hopefully it will stay that way the whole trip.

Well, we'll be in California tomorrow evening. Until next time.

The Queen Victoria

Some were asking about our humble abode during the trip. Well, here she is, the Queen Victoria. She has a gross tonnage of 90,000 tons and a guest capacity of 2,000. She leaves New York today.

Our room is tucked in behind one of the lifeboats. No balcony, but we have a window. This is a major upgrade from our Carnival cruising. ie- the cheapest interior cabin or as I loving refer to it as the broom-closet cruise. I've come to adopt Sandy's philosophy that on vacation you're not suppose to be in your room, so your cabin shouldn't matter.

All too soon, we'll be heading out to California. There is still so much to do, but fear not, I am now the official trip logistic coordinator. This week it's getting the house cleaned up and ready, next week packing.

The Countdown Begins!

Got twenty-two days to get this show on the road. Packed yet? Nah. Best packing is done at the last minute. Only thing you really need is passport, visas and plastic. Everything else is background music. Scooped up one more dress for formal nights the other day at Dillard's for $12 with Candice's discount. Looking good on the cheap is where it's at! Twenty-one formal nights and twenty-seven semi formal nights to attend. Let's just say there will be repeat performances by outfits. We are minimalist when it comes to luggage!!! Ironic thing is we are packing suitcases inside our suitcases for all of our worldly purchases for the trip home. It's gonna be a buyer's world out there when $1 US dollar equals $18,280 Dong Vietnamese dollars or $33.16 Thailand Baht. One Indian rupee equals 2 US cents. Another ironic tidbit, we'll possibly have to pay more for the baggage to come home than the entire contents of the bag. Just hope that cabin is big enough for ALL our purchases!

Visas - Its Everywhere You Want To Be

Step one to getting on the ship: proper documentation. As of today: check. Our visas arrived and alleviated a lot of pre-trip stress.
