San Fran

We have covered some ground these last two days! San Fran can be a two day city if you move as fast as we do, tops three. We used the BART (Bay Area Rapid Transit) system to get downtown. Stopped first in the financial district and then took an electric trolly car down to Fisherman's Wharf to eat at Boudin's Sourdough shop. Visited the Maritime Museum and looked at all the boats down the pier too. Ghirardelli's chocolate factory was next, and yes, we had to have a hot fudge brownie sundae! Heaven baby! We then hiked up Hyde St. (take a look at the picture) to Lomard St., which is the most crooked street ever. Hyde is the steepest street we walked up that day. Great views of the Golden Gate Bridge, Alcatraz, the Bay Bridge and shopped in the Ferry Building. Fed the seagulls, pigeons and checked out the barking sea lions.

Today was a calf and glut-buster! We hiked the hills of the city through Chinatown, Nob Hill, North Beach and Russian Hill. Too many steps up hill. Could never find the Chinese Fortune Cookie Factory. Probably a good thing - I don't need any bad fortune! Hiked up to Coit Tower and checked out the cable car museum to see how the cables moved the cars around the streets. Caught lunch at the Cheesecake Factory (de-lish) and had a view overlooking Union Square.

It's been cold here, high of 51 degrees, and windy both days. We got caught in the rain walking back to hotel yesterday but I'm sure that is one of many to come. Sun finally popped out around three today and there was a rainbow over the Bay Bridge - picture worthy!

San Fran is a nice place to visit, great people, but wouldn't want to live here. No yards, houses stacked on top of each other and with the exception of some real estate downtown it's pretty plain architecture in suburbs. Lots of history in this city. We had fun checking it out and covered a lot of ground considering we never got out of the hotel until 11:00 am each day! Which is really like 1 p.m. Little Rock Standard Time. We're still on CST, can you tell? Post time midnight, normal working hours!

Fisherman's Wharf - Sandy later fed birds here. Like most of the rest of the city!

The Golden Gate Bridge - with the little bit of sun that we had.
