The Queen in town
25 Feb, 2010 03:28 PM
ONE of the world’s most luxurious and spectacular cruise ships will call into Albany this Saturday.
Cunard’s Queen Victoria is due about 8am for a six-hour stay for her first stop in Western Australia.

The 294-metre ship is likely to enter King George Sound about 7am before berthing at the port, weather permitting.
The ship, with about 2,000 passengers on board, will be welcomed by cannon fire as it enters Ataturk Channel, and a flyover by the Albany Aero Club has been organised.
The Queen Victoria is expected to depart around 2pm to continue its trip to South East Asia after a stopover in Fremantle and Exmouth. Prices for the trip range from $9,449pp twin-share.
Queen Victoria has 11 restaurants, cafés and specialty lounges – including one reminiscent of the original Queen Victoria’s home, Osborne House, in which white-gloved waiters serve traditional English afternoon tea daily.
Albany’s volunteers will be kept busy with a visit by the Pacific Sun from 11am to 6pm on Friday.
The Pacific Sun is a medium-sized cruise ship with about 1,900 passengers.
